The rock beauty is the smallest member of the angelfish found in the Atlantic, reaching a maximum size of 1 foot (0.3 meters) long.

Diet:

The diet of the rock beauty consists mainly of sponges, but they also feed on corals, tunicates, and algae.

Range & Habitat:

Rock beauties can be found in clear, shallow reef habitats in the Western Atlantic and throughout the Caribbean, reaching as far south as the waters of southeastern Brazil.

Details:

The rock beauty is a member of the angelfish family. Their bodies are thin and disc shaped, with distinctive black and yellow coloration: their bodies are black, with a bright yellow head and tail. Juveniles are entirely bright yellow with a small black dot under their dorsal fin, and become more and more black as they mature.
